Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Joseph Lacava

Dr. Joe studied Kinesiology at Temple University before attaining a Doctorate degree in Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College.

During his career he studied and passed the examination to become certified as a Full Body Active Release Techniques (ART) practitioner.

As a movement-based healthcare provider he has had the opportunity to work with Ironman athletes, Ultramarathon runners and with the Philadelphia Union.  In order to better serve athletes and better integrate with sport and performance colleagues, Dr. Joe attained his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist degree certification.  Utilizing expertise and understanding of both therapeutic and performance disciplines, Dr. Joe has enjoyed the opportunity to develop years of experience and a streamlined approach to helping athletes through recovery and performance optimization.

Dr. Joe’s highest clinical aspiration however, is to empower patients to overcome the anxiety and the trepidation that can define the pain experience.  He has always remained focused on empowering patients to explore their fullest movement capacity. Impressed by the healing power of fun, engaging movement, he daily enjoys the opportunity to empower patients to overcome their pain, bounce back from injury and embrace an active lifestyle.

When he isn’t in the office, Dr. Joe likes to get out into nature by hiking, backpacking, camping or orienteering.  For his own workout, he prefers a level of variety, utilizing everything from light Indian clubs to his heavy gada to kettlebells, barbells and the occasional stint of cardio.   And of course, when it’s time to take a breath Joe prefers to stay home and spend time with his wife and son.
