Rehabilitation

LifeClinic of Vaughan offers various rehabilitation services to help patients return to their normal lifestyles. They may undergo the following procedures:

Accident Injury Rehabilitation

A car accident is one of the leading causes of injuries that often result in broken bones, sore limbs, and severe wounds. Accident injury rehabilitation can help treat the physical stress that individuals experience after an accident. Our team can conduct various methods such as whiplash treatment, spinal manipulation, and manual therapy to alleviate your condition.

Sports Injury Rehabilitation

Playing sports, training, and competing can result in various complications like muscle strains, sprains, dislocated joints, and extremity injuries. Our Sports injury rehabilitation is the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of these sports-related injuries. The first part of treatment aims to reduce pain and promote healing.

The prescribed exercises will depend on your goals, whether you want to increase your mobility and flexibility or reset your joints to regain or enhance your strength.

Work Injury Rehabilitation

Workers can encounter many accidents at their workplace, depending on the nature of their occupation. For example, those constantly on their feet may bump into tables, walls, or cabinets. Slipping or falling is also common regardless of your work setting.

Work injury rehabilitation addresses your physical complications to relieve pain and inflammation. It also helps patients avoid loss of income and symptoms that may linger even after their injuries have healed.

Pre- and post-operative Care

Our pre and post-operative care services provide holistic care to achieve optimal wellness. It covers two phases of a patient’s recovery. Preoperative optimization prepares the patient’s body. Chiropractic care minimizes your pain and discomfort as you prepare for surgery.

Post-operative care is typically done a few months after a patient’s surgery. We will perform regular checkups on your injury site and check different health gauges like your blood pressure

Special Services

Fascial Distortion Model

The Fascial Distortion Model is a treatment model that helps us analyze the various connective tissues in your body. FDM helps diagnose common musculoskeletal conditions so that you receive the best treatment. We will also consider your verbal and physical description of your pain and perform specific tests to provide you a more accurate treatment plan.

The six alterations to your body’s soft tissues are the following:

  • Triggerbands
  • Continuum distortion
  • Cylinder distortion
  • Herniated trigger points
  • Folding distortion
  • Tectonic fixation

Each of these alterations treats a specific problem. For example, folding distortions treat distorted facia that results from traction or compression forces. At the same time, tectonic fixations address fascial surfaces that cannot glide and have lost their range of motion, causing them to be fixated or stiff.

After the fascial distortion model, it is advised to avoid heat and excessive rest. The high temperature can hinder your recovery progress, while too much rest prevents your body from healing correctly.

Conditions We Treat

Our Vaughan clinic can address a wide range of medical conditions. Through our rehabilitation services, we can help you manage your discomfort so you can do your daily activities painlessly. The conditions we treat include the following:

Ankle Pain

A sprained ankle is one of the most common causes of pain in the ankle. Your pain may fall into one of the three categories, which vary depending on its severity. For example, Grade 1 sprained ankles have torn and stretched more than normal ligaments, while Grade 2 sprained ankles only have partial tears. The last is the most severe because it involves complete tearing of the ligament. Undergoing chiropractic care helps reduce pain and speed up your recovery time. It also focuses on improving mobility so that moving around doesn’t cause you discomfort.

Shoulder Impingement

Shoulder impingement is when the outer edge of your shoulder blade rubs against and pinches your rotator cuff. Patients complain of pain, irritation, and stalling around the area. This overuse injury typically happens to athletes who play sports that involve a lot of overhand rotation like tennis, swimming, baseball, and volleyball.

Your chiropractor can help you overcome your symptoms. They will prescribe a set of exercises you can do. The physical activities begin with gentle movements and slowly increase the difficulty by gradually adding weights. The goal is to be able to do these without pain and to avoid recurrence.

Chronic Joint & Muscle Pain

A throbbing sensation on your knees, hands, spine, and hips can be defined as muscle and joint pain. The localized pain causes mobility issues and sleeping discomfort. You may undergo various non-surgical procedures depending on where the affected area is located. For example, pain in the spine can be addressed with a spine adjustment, while pain in your limbs can be treated with a massage.

What to Expect

1 Examination

During your 1st visit, our providers will hear the story of what brings you in, perform a new patient examination to determine the root cause of your problem, and briefly summarize what was found.

The examination consists of motion tests, palpation, reflex testing, and muscle strength, to help identify dysfunction in movement patterns and poor muscle engagement.

2 Report Of Finding

During your second visit, your provider will recap what was found in the examination, discuss a solution, review what your personal contribution to care will be, and begin treatment on that day.

3 Daily Appointments

On each subsequent visit, our providers will perform routine assessments to ensure you are track with your treatment plan and provide treatment.

Treatment visits typically consist of a combination of:

  • Chiropractic Adjustments: restores, maintains, and optimizes human function by eliminating interference within the joint and soft tissue thus restoring the synergy between your joints, nerves, and muscles. Chiropractic adjustments are only available during sessions with a chiropractor.
  • Integrated Muscle and Joint Therapy (IMJT): an advanced, active form of soft tissue treatment that effectively integrates the mind, muscular, skeletal, and neurological systems to achieve optimum balance throughout the body. IMJT is a patented technique available exclusively at LifeClinic.
  • Rehabilitation: carefully selected exercises and activities used in a specific sequence in order to reinforce changes made with the adjustment and IMJT. Rehabilitation retrains the body’s “movement habits.”
