Dr. Joel Fugleberg - Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Joel Fugleberg

Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Joel Fugleberg graduated from the University of Minnesota and received his Doctor of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University. He has been serving patients in the Eden Prairie, Hennepin County, and Twin Cities area for 14 years. Dr. Joel was inspired to become a chiropractor after several positive experiences with them himself. His first trip to the chiropractor was for an ankle injury in which his ankle was misaligned. He couldn’t move or bend his ankle, let alone stand and bear weight. He chose the chiropractor over the ER and literally hopped into the chiropractor’s office. After his treatment, he was amazed to stand up and walk out of the office on his own two feet. He was impressed with the practical results of chiropractic and the focus on the root cause rather than just addressing symptoms. This has always resonated with him from a health standpoint. Later, after he had several bouts of back pain while competing in wrestling in college, he had another great experience with a chiropractor that helped him recover quickly. He then made the decision to continue schooling in chiropractic so that he could offer the same healthcare that he had been blessed to receive. Dr. Joel enjoys seeing his patients light up after regaining their function. He also enjoys helping restore their faith in their own ability to heal. He believes experience is the best teacher and has particular interest in plantar fasciitis, shoulder pain, back pain and headaches. Dr. Joel has taken additional training in extremity treatments such as shoulder, foot and ankle issues as well as certification work with spinal trauma.

Accidental Trauma

Vehicular accidents are one of the reasons patients seek help from chiropractors. If you’re suffering from injuries caused by such mishaps, our experts can help. From joint and back pain to whiplash and shoulder injuries, our professionals will help you get back in optimal shape.

Sports Injuries

Our Eden Prairie rehabilitation facility is equipped to deal with injuries caused by sports and other physical activities. From jumper’s and runner’s knee to tennis elbow and shin splints, we can help with your pain and discomfort.

Work-Related Injuries

While sports injuries and accidental trauma can be a common cause of chronic pain, work-related injuries fit in this category as well. Injuries like muscle strain from carrying heavy loads or prolonged sitting at the office are just some of the main culprits. Our seasoned professionals can address this issue by employing non-invasive procedures for your speedy recovery.

Conditions We Treat

Our chiropractic and rehabilitation center at Eden Prairie, Flagship MN treat conditions such as:

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

This is one of the most common workplace injuries. If you’re experiencing tingling, numbness, or weakness on your wrists, you might be suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome. While chiropractic practices don’t guarantee complete recovery, it is recommended that you at least try this approach. Regular visits to a chiropractor can yield positive outcomes.

Fibromyalgia

A condition common in women, fibromyalgia can result in fatigue, excessive sleeping, depression, and several others. We treat this condition through chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, and diet recommendations.

Sciatica

Patients with sciatica experience pain at the back of their leg despite the injury originating on the pelvis or lower back. Our Eden Prairie chiropractic facility addresses this issue by removing pressure off the sciatic nerve through a chiropractic adjustment.

Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a disorder characterized by abnormal spinal curvature. Our recommendations often include increasing joint and core strength. It also involved procedures targeting pain reduction to help with your daily function.

Foot and Ankle Pain

Chronic foot and ankle pain are often caused by trips and fall that are particularly common among the elderly. Some runners are also experiencing pain in this area due to plantar fasciitis. Chiropractic adjustment can help with these conditions as it restores communication between the nerves and tissue.

Knee Pain

Jumper’s knee, runner’s knee, and patellofemoral syndrome are just some of the many knee pains we treat. Our chiropractors will help by using a gentle knee and spinal manipulation, which often improve function and reduce pain.

Hip Pain

The elderly often complain about hip pain due to arthritis and improper posture. Our chiropractors address this problem using massage, stretching exercises, and chiropractic adjustment.

Shoulder and Neck Pain

The neck and shoulder area often suffer from chronic pain due to accidents, injuries, or work-related traumas. Our chiropractors can help by providing a sudden and controlled force that realigns the area. This results in relief and significant pain reduction allowing patients to return to their normal daily routine.

Back Pain

Slips, falls, accidents, sports injuries, or a sedentary lifestyle can lead to back pain. To address this issue, our professionals use spinal manipulation to reposition the head, neck, shoulder, and back.

What to Expect

1 Examination

During your 1st visit, our providers will hear the story of what brings you in, perform a new patient examination to determine the root cause of your problem, and briefly summarize what was found.

The examination consists of motion tests, palpation, reflex testing, and muscle strength, to help identify dysfunction in movement patterns and poor muscle engagement.

2 Report Of Finding

During your second visit, your provider will recap what was found in the examination, discuss a solution, review what your personal contribution to care will be, and begin treatment on that day.

3 Daily Appointments

On each subsequent visit, our providers will perform routine assessments to ensure you are track with your treatment plan and provide treatment.

Treatment visits typically consist of a combination of:

  • Chiropractic Adjustments: restores, maintains, and optimizes human function by eliminating interference within the joint and soft tissue thus restoring the synergy between your joints, nerves, and muscles. Chiropractic adjustments are only available during sessions with a chiropractor.
  • Integrated Muscle and Joint Therapy (IMJT): an advanced, active form of soft tissue treatment that effectively integrates the mind, muscular, skeletal, and neurological systems to achieve optimum balance throughout the body. IMJT is a patented technique available exclusively at LifeClinic.
  • Rehabilitation: carefully selected exercises and activities used in a specific sequence in order to reinforce changes made with the adjustment and IMJT. Rehabilitation retrains the body’s “movement habits.”
